CHRIS'S FREE PICTURES

Here is a short video I shot late on December 28, 2010 showing what I believe are some type of  Sparrow's playing in a drainage culvert.

I hope that you enjoy it.

I thought that you might enjoy this late afternoon shot of the Burger King and Sunoco near the corner of Havendale Boulevard and Charlotte Road in Winter Haven, Fl. I took it from my vehicle while waiting for the traffic light to turn green on December 5, 2010. I also used the Kodak easy share software to "crop" and "enhance" this photo.

More Photographic Perspiration and Inspiration.......

I took this photo on December 5, 2010 at Lake Sears in Winter Haven, FL. at about sunset. The top Picture is the raw image.

The image below is how it came out of the Kodak Easy Share down load program after using the "color balance" and "enhance" buttons.

I especially like the silhouette of the Great Blue Heron on the dock.

Pancho Villa Revisited

I spent an enjoyable few minutes visiting http://old-photos.blogspot.com/ and learning a different perspective of Pancho Villa and some of his bandit friends. Though I am not strong on most things historical, I have at least heard of Pancho Villa and some of his activities. I did not realize that in his day and age (the early 900's) his power and influence was equal to or greater than that enjoyed by a Godfather named Alphonse Capone during the dirty thirties. In fact, I think that Pancho Villa may have been even more powerful; because he successfully or nearly successfully overthrew an entire government before he was killed.

More Photographic Inspiration and Perspiration......

This is another photograph that I took at Lake Sears on the late afternoon of December 5, 2010.

This is a slightly enhanced version using the Kodak download program.

I am still trying to figure out the GIMP program that I down loaded from http://www.gimp.org/downloads/. What little that I have managed to understand so far has been impressive, but do not expect to see my efforts with it here until I master at least the very basic functions. I suppose that it would help if I was at least as smart as the program I am working with.

More Photographic Inspiration and Perspiration......

Still another photo from Lake Sears on December 5, 2010 showing what happens when you use an improvised "tripod" to take a late afternood sunset photo.

This is the photo "enhanced" using the Kodak Download program.

It did a fairly nice job of cleaning up the picture and showing more detail.

More Photographic Perspiration and Inspiration.......

I thought that you might enjoy this late afternoon shot of Lake Sears taken from the public boat ramp.

Have you ever....

dreamed of going on a photography "hunt" or shoot in the wilderness of Alaska? Ever dreamed of getting a great photo of a Grizzly bear in the pristine wilderness? How about an out standing image of Bald Eagles? Would you like someone to guide you to places like: Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, Gates of the Arctic National Park, the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, Katmai National Park and Preserve and the Kenai Peninsula? I know that I have. You might check out this page:http://www.alaskanalpinetreks.com/About_Us/About_Us.htmlfor a start. When and if I get the time and money to go there, these are some of the people that I am going to contact. Their blog and web site are very nice and professional in my opinion. May your Christmas have been as joyful and blessed as mine. May you have a bright and shining New Year.

More Photographic Perspiration and Inspiration.......

Saturday, December 18, 2010 was pretty much a dim, dull and rainy day in the Winter Haven, Fl. area as you can see from these photo's.

More Photographic Inspiration and Perspiration......

I was down at lake Sears before the sun came up on Saturday, December 18, 2010. It was still close enough to dark that I was pushing to functional boundaries of my Kodak CX7430 camera when these birds showed up.

More Photographic Inspiration and Perspiration......

I have no idea who owns this Harley Davidson, but it became an attractive nuisance to my Kodak Easy Share CX7430, 4.0 Mega Pixel camera. My camera has a mind of it's own and practices ''mind over matter" (it does not mind me and that doesn't matter to it). The blurry spots were apparently cause by a spot of "fog" on the lens.

More Photographic Perspiration and Inspiration.......

This video can show you how blustery it was when I took it, but it can't show you how BITTERLY COLD it was in central Florida on that day. It was however under cloudless blue sky. Did I mention how BITTERLY COLD it was on December 13, 2010?

More Photographic Perspiration and Inspiration.......

While I was looking for cold damaged plants to take pictures of I came across this to take a picture of. I think that the pinkish part is a flower head, but I have no clue of where it came from.

This plant is a definite victim of the recent bitter cold here in Central Florida. I think that it was some kind of Daisey, but I am not a Botanist.

I took the picture below as an experiment by setting the camera to "close up", setting the timer and laying it under the flower.

It looks like a nice "happy accident" to me.

More Photographic Perspiration and Inspiration....

In another display of trying to push my poor little 4 MP camera well beyond it's normal point and shoot limits, I put it on a tripod and started shooting before the sun topped the horizon.

As you can see from the graininess of the same picture above and below, it was still technically too dark to get even moderately good pictures. It was a fun and interesting time to listen to the world start to wake up, though.

My Photographic Perspiration and Inspiration....

I took this picture at approximately 6:00 AM today, Saturday, December 18, 2010 with my trusty old 4.0 Mega Pixel Kodak CX 7430 Digital Camera. I think that I was pushing it well beyond it's normal usage limits, which I believe caused the grainy appearance.

The picture below is the same picture as the one above, except I hit the "enhance" button from the download and editing program from Kodak Easyshare.

I hope that you enjoyed this first posting on my new blog.
